Festive cycle.

Paterna has a big festive cycle, which begins in January with the commemoration of Sant Antoni Abot and concluded during the traditional Christmas celebrations with the feast of New Year's Eve. These include a whole range of activities in which, based on a prefixed date as we introduce an aspect of leisure and popular with a broad participation, not only among neighbors of the town but with the countless people who came to visit us and, even more distant lands such as the twin town of Adeje, in the Canary Islands.

"Les falles" are held in the week of March 19 in honor of Sant Josep. Paterna concurs with broad participation by the 17  "comisions falleres", through a healthy competition, develop an extensive business throughout the year to enable the party.

"El Cristo de la Fe" and "St. Vincent Ferrer" are part of a collective feeling in the town of Paterna that  deals with its roots and traditions with deep religious devotion, together with the Valencian saint, "el Crist Negre". They are held locally during the second half of August.

"El pregó" of parties is the starting point to powder, sport, entretainment and religious events that intertwine during two weeks of intense festive and popular participation.

And during these days parades, fire and gunpowder are the stars of a festival where the row of Moors and Christians occupy a first order of relevance to the outstanding presence of agglutinated paterners and paterneres participating in the enviorement. The culmination of Moors and Christians festival takes his grandstanding on the spectacular and colorful parades full of sumptuous and colorful annual event occur at night "Mora i Cristiana". But it does not end here.

As you can see, I'm on the Moor's side.
Intercomparses's participation in the speech of parties, the Moorish and Christian flags hoisted, the event commemorating the peaceful entry of King Jaume I in Paterna, posters of the parties, the photo contest, the "Mig Any" (a party that celebrates half year of the Moorish and Christian party. So, as you can see, the thing is been on party) and theCultural week ... make an extraordinary effort towards the promotion and dissemination of the party.

But also during the days of festivals, in Paterna offered a wide range of activities that take place around the fire: the fireworks displays, mascletades, the rocket parades of luxury (child and adult), etc..

So much around the Cultural Week of Fire is set an abundant number of events such as exhibitions and conferences on "La Cordà" and the world of fireworks, traditional piece bouet adveniments ... These lead us as a whole, so inevitable, the culmination of the festival materialized in "La Cordà".

To be continued...

Scary story

Last week my mother told me a very scary story about a neighbor.
Two weeks ago, a security door had been built in my building and I didn’t know the reason of such a strange action. When my mother told me that story I understood the reason.
Camila, who is my neighbor on the 2nd floor, had been kidnapped by a man under the effect of the drugs in her own house. He treed her with ropes and he kept her quiet putting a pair of shocks in her mouth.
Then, he stole all the jewels that were in the house and the money (including the credit cards). The next day, the man was arrested by the police in Jaen and he will probably be sent to prison.
What a scary story, isn’t it?

university

I like so much the life in the University. It is so different than the school. Not only because you don’t have to go to all the classes but because you are learning the things you really want too.

In school you were obliged to study things you weren’t interested in, like for example Mathematics or Chemistry. I have always hated maths and I really think that it should resolve its problems on its own, because I was exhausted when I have to study it.
But now in the University I have wonderful subjects such Translation or French. I love these two subjects very much and I find them so interesting and funny. Do you know what is like waking up every single morning and don’t care about going to a town that is so far away from your home because you’re doing what you like?

And it is so good because I have made a lot of friends. Before I begun the classes I was afraid because I can’t make friends easily but it was strangely easy to make them.
On my first day I met a girl called Sara (the claustrophobic one) and a boy (called Pepe). We had a conversation because we were both three from Valencia and so we were together during the first class. But in the end of that class Sara and I went to the cafeteria and forgot of Pepe and from that day one we have never seen him again.

But in the following weeks Sara and I, fortunately, made a lot of new friends that were from Valencia too, and we all coincided in the train all the days and we had conversations about our pasts and the things we liked, our families and all of the things that you say when you’re making friends. Later, some of them rented a house in Castellon to avoid the daily train ride, and when we want to go out at night they offer they house generously to us.
I didn’t know I was going to make such a fantastic group of friends here. But I am very happy because they are always making me laugh.

Thank you JN!

23.11.10

Today was a fantastic day. I enjoyed very much with my friends at the University because one of my classmates has failed down in the stairs. That was so funny!
In the Spanish class we have seen the words that people usually don’t speak well and it has been interesting listen to some of the words.
After that I took the train to Valencia but today the train has stopped in the middle between Castellon and Valencia. My friend, who is claustrophobic, had had a panic attack and she wanted to break the window to go out. I made fun so much of her…
When I arrived home I went to my cousin’s consult (she’s a podiatrist) and helped her by attending the patients and the phone calls. And I felt like a nurse, it has been amazing!
In the end of the day I have seen a film with my mother. It was a very scary movie because it was about aliens that come to the Earth and my mother and I were so afraid that we could not even arrive to the bed. She even asked me to sleep with her!
Now I am writing in the blog and I am a little scared too, but I have to go to bed because I am taking the train at 6.45 a.m. tomorrow.

Good night!

Thank you JN!
