THE TOWN AND ITS HISTORY

Paterna is the town where I live and because of this I'm going to tell you its history.

It belongs to Valencia and it's located on his Northwest.
Before the entrance of the arabics in Spain, Paterna might have been a town.
There are different opinions about this: Some people think that Paterna was on flat slopes and was very big as some of its ruins show. Its name was "JUBALLA" and "el Cid" used it as a barrack square to conquer Valencia. From this moment until the conquer of Valencia by the King Jaume I, our town changed the name of Juballa to PATERNA.

Others think that Paterna was a roman town, and that its first name was Patera, a latin word that means round and wide thing, and also means plate (from the latin word Patina) on account of a clay piece that always have been elaborated in Paterna.
